Ideas For A Fun and Colorful Easter Holiday Table

by | Mar 20, 2020

Easter is coming up and that means it’s time to decorate again! Easter brings all the excitement and freshness of spring.

Decorating your Easter holiday table can set a playful, natural, or religious tone. It all depends on what’s most important to you. So check out these decorating ideas for your next Easter holiday.

Florals

No Easter decor would be complete without florals! It is springtime, after all. But you can incorporate florals into your holiday table in a number of ways.

Flowers

Of course, this is the first way you can use florals to decorate for Easter. Fill your Easter table with high-quality artificial flowers. Or, cut some fresh ones yourself.

Flowers are a great way to bring color into your spread without looking over-the-top. Balance the pink, yellow, or purple blooms with white cookware. Add in an earth-toned table runner to complete the look.

Patterns

You can also use florals through patterns. Floral patterns are making a comeback. If you’re on the fence, take a look at your local decor shop for ideas. You may be surprised by what you like.

Maybe you’ve never been a fan of floral patterns but want to give them a try this year. In that case, we’d suggest starting small. Small designs catch the eye but don’t scream ‘floral’.

Pair smaller florals on your dishware with bigger patterns on your placemats or napkins, and you’ll create a beautiful spring set.

Prints

Another way to use florals as part of your Easter holiday table is through prints. Hang prints of wildflowers or tulips around the house or put them on the table itself.

Incorporate Themed Foods

Wondering how to prepare for Easter? Why not make some Easter-themed foods! Themed foods are a charming way to add festive detail to your table display.

Make your own macarons in pastel colors and display them in a pyramid on a white dish. Bake a carrot cake and display slices on different-leveled cake stands.

For appetizers or mains, prepare egg salads or deviled eggs to bring the theme together. For a unique appetizer, wrap egg salad in thin slips of salmon with a garnish at the top. This creates a cute, protein-packed, carrot-shaped snack.

And of course, you can’t go wrong with chocolate. Give your guests mini baskets with chocolate bunnies and eggs to end the night on a sweet note.

DIY Speckled Egg Placeholders

Creating your own decorations can really get you into the holiday spirit. These speckled egg placeholders are a beautiful way to customize your guest’s seat.

Stain your white eggs with tea to create brown eggs or dye them with food coloring. Keep things natural by using a mix of blue and green, or get playful and color your eggs pink, purple, and yellow.

To make the eggs speckled, dip a clean toothbrush into some paint. Then splatter spots of light or dark paint onto the shells. Once your eggs are dry, place them in small homemade or store-bought nests. Add your guest’s name to the piece, and you’ve got yourself a cute, festive Easter table placeholder.

Dive Into Pastels

No list of Easter ideas would be complete without pastels! If you love the light, youthful aura that pastels bring, use them unsparingly. Pastel dishware, napkins, or table cloths can make an Easter table pop.

If you want to use just a hint of pastel, fill neutral-toned dishes with colorful candies. Display pastel-colored candlesticks or flowers.

Of course, pastels aren’t everyone’s favorite color palette. But they are really festive during springtime. If your home decor uses natural, earth tones the most, try using saturated Easter colors.

Darker pinks, purples, greens, and yellows will complement your home decor nicely.

Use Color Tinted Glassware

Another way to add color into your Easter holiday table is by using tinted glassware. These pieces bring color to your table in a subtle, understated kind of way.

Using deep purple tulips as a centerpiece? Find some purple or pink-tinted glasses to complement them. Your guests may not even notice the added color, but it’ll tie together your table in a really lovely way.

Consider the shape of your glasses too. Finding glasses that are made to resemble flowers can give your table an extra springy feel.

Recycle Old Egg Shells

Leading up to the Easter holiday, only crack eggs at the very top. Carefully remove the top of the shell. What you’ll have left is the bottom of the shell with a jagged opening where you removed part of the top.

Rinse out that remaining piece of shell and let it dry. Once dry, you can paint the shell however you like. Once the paint has dried, fill the eggshell with small candies and display them on your table.

Celebrate the Religious Side

You may be celebrating Easter for religious reasons. If that’s the case, take a look at these next ideas.

Go Natural

Keep things grounded by incorporating all-natural decorations into your Easter table. You can start by using fruit cartons as planters. Don’t like the green color? Paint them beige or tan.

Then fill them with wildflowers, wheatgrass, or other plants from your garden. You can use these as placeholders for your guests, as party favors, or simply for decoration.

For a farm-fresh feel, use galvanized plant stands to display your bigger bouquets.

Display Bible Verses

Find a few small frames and print out your favorite Easter verse onto stationary paper. For a more homemade touch, pen each verse yourself in faux-calligraphy

You can also use verses in your guests’ take-home party favor. Write them out by hand on small pieces of paper and place them into a sheer, colored, drawstring bag. When your guests get home, these will act as a heartfelt reminder of the day and the time spent together.

Display Your Sentimental Pieces

Use your favorite wooden or ceramic cross as a centerpiece. Easter is all about new life, too, so place fresh, colorful flowers next to it. They will remind your guests of the meaning of the season and bring vibrancy to your display.
