Constructed of quality iron in a rusty finish, Winslow stands over 6 ft. tall while balancing on a heavy stake that securely anchors into the ground. The wind or a gentle push will cause him to sway forward and back and flap his large wings, while a large iron balance ball rocks along with him, keeping him stable. I ordered and received this owl last December, so I had to wait until this weekend to put it out in the garden. And it was worth the wait. I love it! I’m hoping that it will discourage animals from raiding my garden. But even if it doesn’t, it’s beautiful to look at. I will probably take the owl off if it really windy – but with the way this is designed it will be easy to do.

I bought this owl to help keep the birds of pray away from my turkeys and chickens, it looks so great in my back yard , my flock are not even scared of the owl , I might have to save up my money for the eagle one too .

the flapping owl is definitely cool. It’s a pretty penny for what it is but most up nowadays can run expensive in my humble opinion. Compare this to some other yard ornaments and it’s about right priced for what it is. The wings definitely flap when the wind blows. My husband thought it look like it was made out of junk but I enjoy the metal rustic look. I guess it would depend on personal taste. I’m 5’4 and it’s a little taller than me when stuck in the ground. Very heavy and solid. ITis a good overall size. I could have done without the eyelashes which makes it look cartoonish. Would have MUCH preferred a more natural authentic looking owl but I knew this based on the photographs and decided to still buy it. Blends in a little bit with the woods behind our house but I wouldn’t want it to be obnoxious and colored so it’s fine for me. They have a version that has solar lit up eyes at night for about $45 more. I didn’t see the point and didn’t like the way the eyes looked (like flashlight reflective lens). Also figured in time they would probably break. If you like this, there are other versions also- eagle, flamingo. I would recommend. My only dislike are the “cartoon eyes”. Tempted to rip off the eyelashes, but I won’t for obvious reasons

I saw something very similar last year at a nursery. Price was a little more than Wayfair. Its been on my mind since then and wish I would have bought it. I took at chance and looked it up and found that Wayfair had one. A little cheaper and I took a chance. Im so glad I did. This owl is a wonderful addition to my garden. Its not some cheap piece of tin, but quite sturdy and assembly is very easy. A little breeze and the wings start moving. Ive received a lot of compliments. I absolutely love it and would recommend.

Wasnt hard to put up. Im 65 and I did it myself except putting it in the grass. I love the look. I bought it to keep the geese out of my yard, so far its working, but if it no longer keep geese away, I still love the look and the way it rocks and wings flying when wind blows. I did have to adjust the tail feathers because one wing kept getting stuck but other than that, I love it.
