Keep reading for our top 6 beautiful and memorable ideas for outdoor fall decor.

Get Spooky With It

It’s never too early to celebrate Halloween. Leave your visitors spell-bound with these awesome outdoor Halloween decorations.

1.  Large Halloween Cemetery Arch with LED Lights

Making your yard into a cemetery is a classically spooky way to furnish your yard this Halloween season. This Halloween Cemetery Arch features jack-o-lanterns, ghosts, and eerie purple lights. Welcome your neighbors to your yard through this chilling passageway, if they dare.

2. Handmade Gravestones

No haunted cemetery is complete without a set of creepy gravestones to go along with it. You can create your own handmade gravestone decorations with a few simple supplies and steps.
You’ll need:

  • A large sheet of floral Styrofoam
  • A serrated knife and paring knife
  • A black permanent marker
  • Dark gray or black spray paint
  • White or gray acrylic paint
  • A sash brush
    Thin metal or wood stakes

Use your black marker to outline two gravestones on the sheet of Styrofoam. Once you’ve determined the shape of the stones, draw a design that is easy to carve. Using your serrated knife, cut the Styrofoam along the outline, and carve out your design with the paring knife.

Spray paint the stones, allow to dry, then coat in gray acrylic paint with your sash brush. Apply a second coat of evenly mixed gray and white paint. Lastly, apply a coat of plain white paint: this will give it a classic weathered, concrete color.

Use metal or wood stakes to install them in your yard.

3. Jack-O-Lantern Head Girl with Witch’s Hat and Tray

If you won’t be home to hand out candy for trick-or-treaters this year, let this Jack-o-Lantern Head Girl help! This cute pumpkinhead girl statue is made of weather and rust-resistant iron and holds a metal tray. It is a perfect front porch accessory to hand out candy on Halloween.

Go For a Harvest Theme

The fall season evokes images of inviting homes, comfort food, and family. You too can give your outdoor space a cool and cozy vibe.  Use the natural fall foliage and brilliant autumn colors around you to accentuate your outdoor fall decor.

4. Dried Flowers

Flowers are a classic outdoor accessory. However, as the temperature drops, even the hardiest of flowers will start to die or go dormant for the year. Take this opportunity to step up your decorating game.

You can dry flowers from your garden or ones from autumnal bouquets, such as amaranth, asters, baby’s breath, chrysanthemums, daisies, hydrangeas, lavender, marigolds, rosebuds, zinnias, and even dried herbs and seed pods to make beautiful dried flower decorations. Start by trimming your flowers off their foliage and removing the entire stem from a few of them. Bundle the flowers with a rubber band and hang them upside down in a well-ventilated area.

After two to three weeks, the flowers should be dry enough to use in decorating or you can keep them bound together and hung upside down outside as lovely floral swags.

5. Make Creative Bird Feeders

Bird feeders are a beautiful way to show love to your feathered friends and make a great yard accessory. As food becomes more scarce and winter approaches, considering making some fall-themed bird feeders.

If you have any dried gourds from last fall, you can cut one in half, extract the dried seeds, and drill holes in it to hang from a tree or your porch.

Alternatively, you can use fresh pumpkins or gourds. Birds like blue jays or dark-eyed juncos, northern cardinals, purple finches, and mourning doves are all fans of pumpkins and pumpkin seeds. To make this, take a pumpkin and cut it in half.

Scoop out the inside of the pumpkin, leaving about a ½ inch shell. Pierce two bamboo skewers through the side of the pumpkin to make perches. Hang the pumpkin shell and fill with wild birdseed.

Note: Organic bird feeders, such as this fresh pumpkin feeder, may attract potentially unwanted animals like squirrels, raccoons, and bears.

Decorate Your Door

Your front door is one of the easiest, and best, things to decorate. It is seen by all who enter your house and can give your home a welcoming energy. Here are some fun and simple fall-themed ways to decorate your door this season.

6. Make a Wreath

Wreaths are traditional door accessories—you can never go wrong with a wreath. You can go for holiday-specific decorations for Thanksgiving or Halloween. This DIY Thanksgiving Yarn Wreath is a kid-friendly project and uses supplies you likely already have at home.
